All employees have a “Compte Personnel de Formation” (CPF) or personal training account from the moment they enter the labour market until they retire.
For employees who work half or more of the legal or collective agreement working time the account is credited with €500 in respect of that year, up to a total ceiling of €5,000.
An additional amount may be added to the account in certain cases, up to a maximum of €8,000: employees who have not attained a level of training attested by CAP-BEP -, or a certification recognised by a branch agreement; disabled workers (OETH) working in an ordinary environment (not in ESATs).
The account can only be used by the employee. They cannot be forced to do so by their employer: refusal to use their account cannot constitute misconduct. On the other hand, if the employee wishes to take advantage of a training course that is followed in whole or in part during working time, he must obtain the agreement of his employer.
During working hours, they must obtain their employer’s agreement.
The training courses eligible under the CPF are listed exhaustively. By way of example, the following are eligible: initiatives to validate acquired experience (VAE); preparation for the theoretical test of the Highway Code and the practical test of the driving licence; skills assessments; training initiatives leading to professional certification or accreditation; training, support and consultancy initiatives for business start-ups or takeovers, etc.
KEY POINT
All employees can activate their CPF on the website www.moncompteformation.gouv.fr (or on the mobile application “Mon Compte Formation” mobile app), which provides a detailed presentation of the system, how it works as well as useful documentation and answers to the most frequently asked questions about the account.
